Training Camp: Speyside Way and Cairngorms

June 29, 2009

Just returned from a super, self-organised training camp run on the Speyside Way and the Cairngorm area of Scotland. We also attended a surprise retirement party for Don Ritchie in Lossiemouth which was a really special occaison.

Day I: I ran one long section on the hardest part of the Speyside Way then ran back to where I had started in Fochabers. Total time almost 4 hours. Lunch with Don & Isobel then ran from Grantown-on-spey through to Aviemore taking about 2hrs 28 minutes.
About 6hrs 30mins for the day all with a medium weight vest.
Over nighted in a basic Bunckhouse in Aviemore which was fine.
Day 2: Joined Adrian for a ‘free run’ which unexpectedly took us up over 800m and not the 300m as planned! Excellent run of about 2hrs 30mins luckily hadn’t worn the weight vest for this one.
Following a short break I put on the weight vest again and did a couple of hours running around Loch Morlich and then back into Avimore.

Back in Sanday by 9pm which isn’t bad!
Managed a total of 11 hours of good running and walking (8½hrs with a weight vest).
Thanks to Adrian Stott for company on a couple of runs and Alan Young for driving and support duties.

William’s 3 Day Running Camp 2009

May 2, 2009

Improve Your Running with a World Record Holder!

William’s 3 Day Running Camp 2009

Isle of Sanday, Orkney

What is it?

William’s 3 Day Running Camp will run from Tuesday August 18th to Thursday August 20th inclusive. If you are interested but can’t make these dates then please let us know. The course is designed to be an intensive, personalized training course designed specifically to help you improve your running. All sessions will be personally supervised by World Record holding ultra distance runner William Sichel and his training advisor Shaun Brassfield-Thorpe.

This is an exclusive course and places will be strictly limited to a very small number of clients so book early to be sure of your place. We don’t feel that we can give the attention clients deserve if more are accepted. Much of the course will focus on analysis of each client across a range of areas we consider significant to making meaningful improvements. There won’t be a lot of group running sessions. You will have time to run yourself and we would suggest you stay on Sanday for a few days either side of the course to enjoy this beautiful and tranquil part of the world.

On Sunday August 23rd there will be a very low-key, informal Sanday Triathlon taking place. Some may want to stay on and enjoy this. Adults and children of all ages can participate in the Triathlon. For details of the Triathlon please contact ??

Who is the course aimed at?

Anyone, over the age of 18, who is interested in improving their running at any chosen distance from 5km upwards!

In order that we can accommodate a wide range of abilities we are offering 1:1 sessions with William and Shaun on topics of your choice. One of these sessions is included in the course fee, others must be booked at £50 per session (approx 1 hour)

Ultra running Survey

April 20, 2009

Dear Sirs,

I am preparing a dissertation as part of my level 3, off-track running coach diploma from the Fédération Française d’Athlétisme. I am carrying out a study of ultra distance runners under the supervision of Guillaume Millet (Sports Doctor and specialist in Myology at St. Etienne Hospital in France). Through this study I wish to analyze the sporting practices and training methods used by ultra distance runners. In particular, I want to gather information on the benefits, the limits and the disadvantages of practicing sports other than running during the preparation of a competition. If this study interests you, I would ask you to help me by putting a link to my questionnaire on your site. I would of course keep you informed of the results of this survey. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely Xavier Trémaudan
